Desolation | Prickly Pear Hard Cider
Your new favorite hard cider.
Prickly pear is the super fruit you never knew you needed — it’s packed with nutrients, vitamins and so much more. So we went ahead and added the “cactus apple“ to our latest hard cider release — Desolation. Brilliant, right? Not only do you get your apple intake covered, but you also get a delicious prickly pear infusion of dietary fiber, potassium, vitamin C, B-family vitamins, calcium, magnesium, copper, taurine, flavonoids, polyphenols, and betalains. All in an easily-drinkable hard cider that’s easy to share. And if you’re gluten-free? Well, did we just made your day?!
Feeling generous?
Every bottle of Desolation sold, helps benefit our community partner, Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA). Together, Mountain West Cider and SUWA worked to create this unique and subtly sweet cider, that will make you say, “wow!” SUWA works to preserve the outstanding wilderness at the heart of the Colorado Plateau, and the management of these lands in their natural state for the benefit of all Americans. We are so proud of the work SUWA is doing, and we are happy to be part of their important mission. So go ahead, enjoy a refreshing Desolation Prickly Pear Hard Cider! It’s a cider you can feel extra good about sipping, and sharing with friends.
Desolation Canyon
Getting the name from its remote location in the lower 48 — and John Wesley Powell’s explorations — Desolation Canyon is quite a remarkable stretch of the Green River in southeastern Utah. At its deepest point, a relief of over 5,000 feet exists from river level to the unseen rim of the Tavaputs plateau! Desolation Canyon was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1968. Mountain West Cider is proud to honor this amazing canyon with its name on our prickly pear hard cider — and the fruit that frequently dots the most of the southwest!
Now … where can you get your hands on a bottle (or more!)
Desolation Prickly Pear Hard Cider was released April 2017, in our Tasting Room and has since been one of the most popular choices at summer festivals throughout the state! You can always stop by the cidery, come in for a tasting, and pick up your cold bottles to take home and share. We are proud to announce that select Utah State Liquor Stores will be carrying Desolation by the end of August 2017! So keep your eyes out, and make sure to mention it at your favorite restaurants and bars!
