Crafted in the Mountain West. Rooted in good times.
Mountain West isn’t just where we’re from — it’s who we are.
It’s the open skies, the winding trails, the backyard gatherings, and the friends you text when the sun’s finally out. It’s adventure, connection, and the kind of quality that’s earned, not rushed.
Founded in Salt Lake City by Jennifer and Jeff Carleton, Mountain West began with a simple spark — a shared love of cider discovered while traveling through Ireland. That spark grew into something bigger: a commitment to crafting high-quality, approachable cider right here in Utah using apples from the region and fermentation methods rooted in tradition.
Together with Head Cidermaker Marcio Buffolo and a small, dedicated team, we’ve grown from a few tanks and a bold idea into an award-winning cidery, a community gathering space, and a staple of Utah’s craft beverage scene.
We believe great cider is more than what’s in the glass — it’s the moments and memories it’s made for. Whether you’re out hiking in Moab, backpacking in the Uintas, swapping stories around the campfire, or just clinking cans on the patio, Mountain West is made for it.
Why Cider?
Cider is simple. But it’s also complex, surprising, and endlessly versatile.
It’s a drink you can take anywhere, pour for anyone, and still be proud of every detail behind it.
Naturally gluten-free and fermented with care, our cider is meant to be shared — in the outdoors, over dinner, or on a Tuesday for no reason at all. Some are dry and classic, some are seasonal and wild, but all of them are rooted in the same thing: craftsmanship and good times with good friends.
What’s Next?
In 2023, we expanded into wine with the launch of Mountain West Cellars — bringing our same attention to detail and love of local to a new frontier. From crisp canned rosé to elegant bottled reds and sparkling whites, our wines are made to pair with the lifestyle we live and love here in the Mountain West.
Because no matter what’s in your glass, the experience should always feel this good.
